The Art Of Keith Parkinson pair This is an interesting pair of books. Eight years apart and, by necessity, released by two different publishers, but both carrying the same design scheme and *extremely* similar 'first' names (thereby causing its share of confusion when specifically looking for something in one or the other (at least for me)). Remember that when you have one of them in mind... Both books will be wanted, as there is no repetition between them worth counting. Kingsgate: The Art Of Keith Parkinson (2004 - Fanfare/SQP (Sal Quartuccio Publications) The central treasure trove of this book is 35 full-page paintings each accompanied by a facing page, containing that art-piece's captioning (size, medium, use & title (not necessarily the name of the product…) along with Parkinson's commentary. A handful of those allow that art to somewhat flow through & past the book's gutter, but not really to ill effect. Then you'll find another six full-double-page spreads that also slide across that gutter O.K. And then add another 30 additional featured paintings and preliminary/alternate drawings (which by their utilization of pages that would have otherwise just been text-pages, allowed this volume to outpace the earlier one below). And another four pages are gatherings of multiple images. Unfortunately, there were another 17 long paintings they chose to turn sideways, as well as doing the same to their accompanying info-pages. Knightsbridge: The Art Of Keith Parkinson (1996 - FPG-Friedlander Publishing Group) Like the later volume above, the most impressive pages here are the large reproductions (46 in all), most of which are faced with an accompanying caption page, all with Parkinson's observations. There are then turned sideways here another 13 long paintings and each of their caption pages (not a welcome presentation for us). Six more pages have multiple images exhibited on them. Three works allow a substantial overflow of the gutter, but acceptably not interfering with the main subject of the art pieces. You'll find six pages that detail the artist's 'process' of completing a single painting and four more that discuss the editorial choices & later alteration-ing that can, and have, come into play.
