Beyond Fantasy - The Art Of Darrell K. Sweet

Nice collection of Sweet's work, the only one, as of this writing. 128 pages with 92 of them being art pages (82 being large reproductions rather than gathering multiple images together). 16 paintings spread out over the center gutter and all remain satisfactory in that fashion. The works are captioned with title & creation-year and almost always with an anecdote or commentary from the artist himself. They made a point of carving out space for a four-page Technique section showing the creation of one piece, with numerous quotes from the artist about it and his general processes. The lion's share of the gathering here is indeed fantasy, but there are a number of works from his historical, modern and science-fiction genres. There is a nice index to these works at the end of the book.
