63 pages of full-page pencil drawings with a one-page introduction, plus two paintings on the front & back covers. There are no captions and indeed most of this work was probably created for this volume. The subjects are male & female barbarians (with no shortage of nudity) in a fantasy context, with a bit of retro science-fiction thrown in for variety. I've seen an amount of invective regarding Hoffman's choice to closely mimic some of the dynamics of Frank Frazetta's style in this collection, rather than travel some different path, and all I have to say is that now Frazetta is gone and won't be producing any more art - I found it fun & enjoyable to page through this book and recapture a bit of that feeling again.
