The Pin-Up Art Of Archie Dickens vol.1 & 2

vol.1 (2003) Pin-ups more in the vein of Vargas, but even more "innocent". Nudes chaperoned by teddy bears, cartoon parrots, kittens, puppies and the British & American flags. Representing the wild side, there was a playful witch and a pool-player in evidence. Nothing salacious going on here. Each work is captioned with its title and gets its own page. There are 46 such pages (out of 48). The collection does present two double-page spreads, but in both cases the book's gutter unsatisfactorily cuts a lovely lass in half. The couple pages of text serve as a worthy introduction to the artist's career of 8 decades.
vol.2 (2005) This second helping actually proves to be a slightly better presentation of its art. To begin with, the four double-page-spreads here are aligned just right enough to be acceptable, but, of course, never ideal. So, in all, 47 pages feature the art (out of 48), since the need for an introduction to the artist was dispensed with in the last volume. The nude cuties here are mermaids, cowgirls, indians, sailors, witches, pirates, musicians, shutterbugs, golfers, pool & card sharps.
