Alien Invasions!  The History Of Aliens In Pop Culture
                                             (2020- IDW Publishing)

(edited by Michael Stein)    This 8-by-9.5 inch volume focuses in on only the alien narratives to be found in pop culture's science-fiction diet.  Stein gathers from a number of contributors eight chapters; The Godfather Of All Alien Invasions, The First Wave Of Pulp Invaders, The Saucers Are Coming!, Aliens Invade The Newsstand, Attack Of The Matinee Aliens, Invasion From Within, Aliens Need Women,Too, and Friend Or Foe (with smaller essays sprinkled throughout); with coverage of pulps, comics, cinema, television & sleaze (one commenter took them to task for ignoring radio. . . ).  Of the 176 pages (and the front & back covers), 84 could be said to let the art dominate the text, with 28 of those featuring large reproductions.  Some of the text touches on artists (not to mention that Vincent DiFate & Ron Miller each provided a chapter), but the anecdotal captions for all the covers & posters is where I think one would find the meat of artistic discussion.  Those artists 'well presented' here are:  Earle Bergey (2), Howard V. Brown, Reynold Brown**, Carl Burgos, Philip Castle, Henrique Alvim Corrêa, Emsh, Kelly Freas**, H.R. Giger, Al Kallis (2), Robert Rigg, Tom Ryan, Alex Schomburg*, Drew Struzan*, Al Williamson, Wally Wood, and UNKNOWN ARTIST (9).

* - Note that the 'well-presented' pieces here by Schomburg, and Struzan, can additionally be found so in their own collections on The List.

** - Note that the 'well-presented' pieces here by Freas, and Brown, cannot additionally be found so in their own collections on The List.
