Worlds Beyond Time - Sci-Fi Art Of The 1970s
                                             (2023 - Abrams)

As I write this, this is the newest Sci-Fi art collection to hit the bookshelves and it's nice to see it score so high.  That comes from having 191 art pages out of this volume's 230.  97 of those are gatherings of multiple images and the other 94 pages each spotlight a single piece.  More than half of the text pages also present a smaller art-piece.  Know that 14 of the art pages are presenting seven pieces that flow over the book's central-gutter (only two of them flunk-out doing so).  You will find 8 major divisions within, entitled, The Abstract-Surreal-And-Otherworldly, Spaceships-Vehicles-And-Megastructures, Sci-Fi-Cities-And-Landscapes, Planets-Explorers-And-Space-Travel, Life In The Future(s), Plants-Animals-And Alien-Life, Fantasy Realms, and Cryptozoology-And-The-Paranormal.  They, in turn, hold grouped musings about common tropes and observations from the author, namely:  Chess In Sci Fi, The Swift Rise And Swifter Fall Of Galileo Magazine, Stewart Cowley's Terran Trade Authority, Ringworld, Rendezvous With Rama, UFOs, Space Elevators, Spaceships-And-Planets, Canals On Mars-The Trope Born Of A Misunderstanding, Underwater Sci-Fi, Skull Planets, Asimov's Foundation Series, NASA's Space Colonies, Explorers Of The Unknown, Cryosleep, Skeletons In Spacesuits, Gunfights In Space, Space Helmet Reflections, Domed Cities, Robots, Postapocalypses, Space Cats, Giant Worms, Dinosaurs Of The Retro-Past, Birds, The Eyes Have It, Close Encounters, The War Of The Worlds, A Single Flower On An Alien Planet, Mushrooms, Forest-And-Trees, Wizards, Sailing Ships In Space, Star Wars Before Star Wars, America's 1970s Bigfoot Obsession, Monsters, Ancient Astronaut "Theory", Creepy And Eerie, Zombies, Ghosts, Alien Ceremonies, and Cloaked Figures (not to mention other small specific explorations into 33 particular artists).  Captioning of most artworks is the artist's name within some factoid or anecdote.  Those painters getting 'well-presented' here are:  Wayne Barlow**, Ken Barr**, John Berkey (2), Clyde Caldwell**, Philippe Caza (2), Douglas Chaffee (2), Don Davis, Vincent DiFate (2)*, Leo & Dianne Dillon, Don Dixon, Bob Eggleton, Dean Ellis (5), Peter Elson (4)**, Enrich, Stephen Fabian**, Chris Foss**, Frank Frazetta*, Kelly Freas (2)***, Jack Gaughan**, Rick Guidice, John Harris*, William K.
