Hardyware - The Art Of David A. Hardy I don't think there are really that many books that focus on just space art. David Hardy is one of the leading practitioners and a lot of his work is on display here, (but note that his more traditional illustration work is also featured). 89 of this volume's 130-odd pages (counting covers & endpapers) are nice large displays of his art and another 23 contain groupings of smaller images. Even a majority of the remaining primarily text pages feature an image or two. There are 18 images that expand across the book's center, most of them double-page spreads. Of these, a little more than half use the gutter well enough to be acceptable, but even those seem to degrade the sweeping dynamic that one feels was intended for these vistas. Almost all the images are captioned with the title, size & origination date, usually accompanied by an anecdote. The text presents a detailed overview of the man's career. other Astronomical art monographs Kazuaki Iwasaki: Visions Of The Universe Lynette R.
