Mass - The Art Of John Harris (2000 - Paper Tiger)
This book has 112 pages plus more paintings on the front & back covers. I'm going to say that because so many of these works by Harris speak to size, scale and 'expanse', that they insist on being featured with large-reproductions of themselves and that then results in this book being particularly high-scoring by our criteria. Indeed, 97 pages each feature large-reproductions of the paintings and a majority of those are full-bleed. Add to that another 12 pages of multiple images, for 109 art-pages in all (96%). Know that 44 of those pages are utilized to present 22 long pieces that spread over the book's central-gutter, all remaining 'o.k.' in that representation (once again, due to the sprawling nature of most of his work (and sometimes judicious use of the portfolio-centers)). Almost everything is captioned with title, medium, size (traditional & metric) as well as a small bit of commentary. The chapters are Imminent Thunder, The Origin Of The Images, The Roads To Mass-And Beyond, and Finding The Image, as well as a useful one-page index of the paintings.
