Parallel Lines - The Science Fiction Illustrations Of Peter Elson & Chris Moore What to do with this book ? It being a single book focused on two subjects, do I have to purloin a word from elsewhere and call this a 'duograph'? Maybe I pull a small cheat and simply consider it two small monographs that somehow got stuck together in publishing. Certainly Peter Elson has not gotten any other dedicated collection (and he richly deserves one), though Chris Moore did get that recognition nearly two decades after this book appeared. Anyway, this book has 87 pages, of which 70 are dominated by their art - only two carry multiple smaller images, because the rest are all featured large reproductions. 18 of those particular pages are utilized to present nine full-bleed double-page-spreads, of which three flunk-out because of what the center gutter does (the other six are o.k., I guess). Nine additional pages are used to re-present the art as black-&-white thumbnails giving them their titles, another page takes those titles & the page numbers to tell you which artist created them and six more have text about the two men and the 'space' they operated in. If your are counting, Elson has 31 'well-presented' works here, while Moore scores 24. (Note that the Chris Moore collection referred to above is JOURNEYMAN, and is a bit better presented gathering of work than this one and that you'll find four images from there repeated here.)
