Peter Jones: Solar Wind A beautiful book that deftly captures the wonder to be found in Science-Fiction. Jones frequently employs a soft style that brings an etherealness to a piece, blurring that dividing line from Fantasy (a division the artist would seem to reject out-of-hand anyway). 77 art-pages out of 91, 70 of those being single large reproductions (and 58 of those full-bleed). There are 11 double-page spreads among all those too, and all 11 are admirably successful. There is no text (and rarely page numbers) among the works, so the book begins with two contents pages that give the title of every piece, along with the publisher-client and the creation-year. The pieces are gathered into five chapters, each with a single-page explication, with the titles: Sword & Sorcery-Romance & The East, Leviathans, The-'Alien Corn'-Aliens-Couples-And-Other-Monsters, All The Worlds Are Stages, Life Imitating Art. A handful of pages are given over to a brief biography and comments on his techniques & processes. There's a little bit of nudity, but all the works were used on book covers put on public display. Currently, copies of this book can be had for practically only the cost of shipping - I can only express that that is an incredible bargain and strongly recommend that all SF art enthusiasts take advantage of it. other Paper Tiger monographs Paper Tiger's Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell books Paper Tiger's Boris Vallejo books Chris Achilleos: Beauty And The Beast Paper Tiger's Chris Foss books The Fantasy Art Techniques Of Tim Hildebrandt Paper Tiger's Bob Eggleton collections Ron Miller: Firebrands - The Heroines Of Science Fiction & Fantasy Journeyman - The Art Of Chris Moore Tom Adams' Agatha Christie Cover Story Mermaids And Magic Shows - The Paintings Of David Delamare The Deceiving Eye - The Art Of Richard Hescox Parallel Lines - The Science Fiction Illustrations Of Peter Elson & Chris Moore Only Visiting This Planet - The Art Of Danny Flynn Inner Visions - The Art Of Ron Walotsky Enchanted World - The Art Of Anne Sudworth Frank Kelly Freas: As He Sees It Hardyware - The Art Of David A.
