Flirt - The Art Of Naughty Vol.1 & 2 (One cover partially witheld) Know that this particular book seems to be the same as the European release Art Fantastix Platinum Edition 6, entitled "The Art Of Carlos Cartegena And Sean Gallimore". It would be called that because that's really what it is - a 'duograph' of the two artists. Both publications utilized the scheme of a double-book, as if a monograph was turned over top-for-bottom and glued to the backside of a different one. So in all, you find here a 100 page volume with 89 pages of art, one page of introduction for each artist, as well as each an index to their pieces with title, creation-year, medium and size, both traditional and metric. Almost two-thirds of the art-pages present as full-bleed. Sean Gallimore gets a display of 29 'well-presented' pieces (another three are turned sideways) and Carlos Cartegena 64. There is one double-page-spread that instead really needed the continuity of no central gutter distortion to make its case. Many of Cartegena's pieces are straight-forward, modern pin-up, but he still dabbles in the realms of fantasy & mythology that Gallimore makes greater use of, percentage-wise. Of course there's some nudity, but the book walks that very fine line and never really goes to an overtly salacious place and stays away from adult-theme problems. Not appropriate for children or adolescents. -- "It's all about the art." They must have that stenciled on their foreheads at SQP. They find a way to not waste a page of their publications. This book has one page given over to an introduction (which is framed by thumbnail images of some of the collected paintings) and they use the inner back cover to display the covers of their books-for-sale and every other single page is devoted to the paintings, including the inner front cover. At 48 pages, half the size of the first volume, the book is considered thin-ish and one of those images is turned sideways, all contributing to this one scoring less. With this volume, the 'series' adopts the more traditional collection scheme, featuring many artists. Two-thirds of the paintings are either full-bleed or have their subject isolated in unbordered white space. All the works are captioned with the artists' names. A lot of nudity, but spiced with the costumes & trappings of ancient Egyptians, bathers, barbarians, bikers, birds, skaters, angels, devils, savages, pirates, vampires, necromancers, mermaids, warriors & witches. The title might suggest a more innocent collection of pin-ups, but there's quite a bit of salaciousness here, in my opinion, and a couple of the images cross the line into adult themes, so this book should be put away from children. The artists on display here are: Claudio Aboy (2), Cesar Britez (9), Michael Dutkiewicz, Gonzalo Flores (2), Diego Florio (4), Danilo Guida (8), Brian LeBlanc, Anibal Maraschi (10), Perla Pilucki (4), Marcelo Sosa (2) and Daniel Suarez (3). other collections of prurient interest SQP books Secret Identity - The Fetish Art Of Superman's Co-Creator Joe Shuster Men's Adventure Magazines In Postwar America Feral House's paperback cover art books Strange Sisters - The Art Of Lesbian Pulp Fiction 1949-1969 Graphic Thrills - American XXX Movie Posters 1970 to 1985 vols.1 & 2 Young Lusty Sluts - A Pictorial History Of Erotic Pulp Fiction Chronicle's paperback cover art collections True Crime Detective Magazines The Art Of Eric Stanton - For The Man Who Knows His Place Baldazzini & Saudelli's Bizarreries Book 1 [BELOW THE LINE] Sex In The Comics [BELOW THE LINE] Other SQP collections Spellbound - Black Magic Women SEND US A COMMENT (goes via e-mail - all info kept anonymous, but comment itself may be shared . . .) |
