RGK - The Art Of Roy G. Krenkel This book scores here as the best one so far dedicated to Krenkel's art. It's certainly the one with most of his paintings and book-cover reproductions. Text-wise, the information about the artist is ladled out by a number of individuals in essayed appreciations of him. The fellow artists that do so are Angelo Torres, Thomas Yeates, William Stout, Michael Wm. Kaluta, Al Williamson, and Frank Frazetta. In this 136-page book, 18 of them pull multiple images together and another 97 each feature some dominant large reproduction (though negative space there may also be utilized for text or another smaller image. . .). Six of those pages are used to display three double-page-spreads, all of which remain satisfactory in that presentation. There's a couple of pages of his sequential-art, as well. Though captioning here is somewhat 'spotty', when they appear, there is frequently an anecdote, or a bit of commentary, that is interesting. A lot of the reporting allows the artist to communicate with his own words. Know that there's no shortage of nudity throughout the proceedings, but like in most things, Krenkel had a non-traditional muse in that area as well. I feel this book focuses more on the science-fantasy realm of his illustration and leaves more of the pre-historical renditions (for which he is also famous) to his slightly lesser volumes below.
