The Art Of Nick Cardy (2001 - Vanguard Prods.)
(by John Coates with Nick Cardy) The original 1999 print run was produced by Coates Publishing, but Vanguard Prods. distributed all editions after that. There is a 16-page color section (as well as the front and back covers) leaving the other 160 to be either text, drawings or greytone reproductions of colored final-products. Altogether, you'll find here 37 pages that feature some particular large art piece, with another 40 that each gather together smaller multiple images. There are 71 biographical text pages (derived from interviews with the artist) and a little more than half of them sport some smaller spot drawing or comic panel. And finally, there's 25 pages that feature Cardy's sequential passages or, to a lesser extent, photographs. I could wish for a more robust, gallery-like, collection of this artist's works, but reading so much of his story, in his own words, was certainly very enjoyable.
