Dreamquests - The Art Of Don Maitz
                                             (1993 - Underwood-Miller)

This is a beautiful book.  To begin with, 57 paintings are presented either as full-bleed or bordered in black.  Then another 38 pages does exactly the same with 19 double-page-spreads, *all* of which escape being marred by the distortion of the central book gutter.  To my eyes, the reproduction-quality seems top-drawer.  There are about seven pages of text, as he, his authoress wife, and some other writers & artists talk about his work.  Then there are three pages that provide captions for all the works - includes title, creation-year, medium, size and what use the art was put to (if book cover, title & author are also identified, as well as publisher).  This is a colorful display of fantasy, sci-fi, adventure & whimsy.  This particular volume easily outscores the first published collection of his work, FIRST MAITZ, but you are going to want that edition as well, as there is very little overlap of images.  Currently, this book is an undiscovered gem for most people and can be gotten for almost no $$.
