Wings Of Twilight - The Art Of Michael Kaluta
                                             (2001 - NBM (Nantier-Beall-Minoustchine))

At the moment, this is by far the best dedicated collection of Kaluta's art on our List.  6o pages each feature a large, crisp, uncluttered reproduction (half of them full-bleed or black-bordered), with another 18 pages of multiple displays.  All the works are captioned with a title.  Also note that one complex painting of the Shadow appears on the back-cover of the dust-jacket, but does not get its own display within the book.  Other 'celebrities' inside are Conan, King Kull, Prince Valiant, & Vampirella, among the chapter-gatherings entitled Biography, Shadows, Fantasy, Visions, Tolkien, and Heroes.  While the book is mostly his paintings, I'll comment that I think there is an over-emphasizing here of his sketchwork.  Yes, he is gifted in his quick, thrown-off energetic composition, but I'm not impressed when such pieces, not deemed worthy enough for 'finishing', are given full-page status while a number of paintings are relegated to the small size of 2-to-4 to a page.  With that said, this is still a very attractive publication.
