The Art Of Doom Eternal
                                             (2020 - Dark Horse Books)

While of course not the first of its type, like all the others that seem to emulate those repetitive Japanese 'Mecha' manuals, this poses as an artbook, but it's really the love-child of an artbook and a parts-catalogue.  Very much like the characters you find throughout, the art is seemingly buried, stuffed-down, amid all the gross tumors, cankers, growths & mutations being carted around by them.  There are many, many presentations of the beautifully rendered environments of the game, but a good portion of them are shown without any occupants at all, giving those ones a slightly soul-less aspect.  That's not to say that there aren't still plenty of opportunities for renderings of exciting drama.  Adding to the diversity is a number of character-studies of the denizens of Hell and its outreach-program.  The chapters found here are:  Of Earth, From Hell, Cursed Worlds, Hurt 'Em Plenty, and Demon Vs. Slayer (strangely, the art for these chapter-openers remain uncredited, though there is an incredibly admirable effort to credit everything else in the book).  As characterized above, once you don't count the numerous renditions of weapons, armour, or the 'many moods of mancubus-es', you'll find this 192-page tome has 109 pages with a featured large-art-reproduction and another 11 with multiple images pulled together.  38 of those art pages are utilized to exhibit 19 works spread across the central-gutter, but they all remain 'o.k.' in that presentation.  The artists getting 'well-presented' displays of their work are:  Mattias Astenvald (2), Peter Boehme (2), Ethan Evans (4), Bryan Flynn (2), Colin Geller (27), Jon Lane (29), Jason Martin, Denzil O'Neil (2), Emanuel Palalic, Alex Palma (26), Emerson Tung (18), and UNKNOWN (7).
