The Art Of Saul Tepper (by Daniel Zimmer) At 9-by-12 inches, 224 high-quality pages is just a bit on the hefty side, but good to see that so much of that is art, namely, 193 pages featuring a large illustration reproduction and another 26 with two smaller images together (13 of the art pages also contain a healthy amount of the biographical narrative, accompanied by two solid text pages to fill that out). Know that a good amount of the large reproductions, those being long & thinnish (no double-page-spreads-yeah!), are usually accompanied by *another* such full piece, all-in-all making for an impressive display of the man's work. The main gallery of the book divides the exhibited pieces into either those intended for advertising or 'editorial illustrations'. Captioning includes the creation-year, size (sometimes the medium), and the image-source, but while the story illustrations reveal the periodical title (if known), they are almost never able to provide the story title too, which is a shame, since that could carry context for this incredible amount of captured drama (both historical and contemporary settings being masterfully depicted). other Illustrated Press releases The Life And Art Of Mead Schaeffer Reynold Brown - A Life In Pictures SEND US A COMMENT (goes via e-mail - all info kept anonymous, but comment itself may be shared . . .) |
