Sotheby's 1993 June (Comic Books/Comic Art) O.K., this auction catalog is a tough sell as an art-book. While many exhibits are color pieces presented that way (with eye-popping reproduction), many color covers & even original art are instead shown in black-&-white - even sometimes on the same page as a color shot. I'm guessing that at time, the whole product was a cost calculation about what was 'worth' trying to sell with a color come-on. When I do my own math, it keeps itself just barely above the line. It's 176 pages, plus the cover, with 88 of those featuring acceptable images enough to be counted as 'art' pages - only four feature a large reproduction. The other pages also have a lot of sequential art exhibited and explanatory text. With all that said, I did find several art pieces on display here that have yet to make it up to the Web. The few 'well-presented' artists found here were: Carl Barks, Jon L. Blummer, Frank Frazetta*, George Herriman, and Harry G. Peter. * - Note that Frazetta's piece here is better presented in his own collections on The List.
