The Glamor Girls Of Don Flowers
                                             (2005 - Fantagraphics)

(edited by Alex Chun)   This could be considered one of a 'series' of thick digest-sized compilations of major pencillers of the female form, but this particular volume would seem to stand aside from the rest in collecting cartoon illustrations suitable for, and from, family magazines or newspapers.  In fact, it is a mainstream cartoonist, Sergio Aragonés, who writes the foreword (and gets a full-page presentation of his own homage).  The art appears as a stylish twist on women's fashion illustrations, in the context of a comical situation or a captioned wry observation.  Nudity may occasionally be suggested just out-of-frame, but is never shown.  The book has 295 pages, of which 256 are full-page reproductions. The other pages are text about the artist & his life, photographs, and some examples of his work in multi-panel comic strips.
