Frederic Remington (Craze)
                                             (1989 - Crescent Books)

(by Sophia Craze)  At 14.5 by 10.5 inches, this book is just over our upper limit of easy 'handlability', but this slim volume is a great format in which to study the 82 of 112 pages that are given over to really large reproductions of the artist's work (there's also 3 more pages with multiple images).  56 of those pages are presenting 28 paintings large enough to substantially cross the book's center gutter.  While none of those works are ideal that way, all but two are acceptable (mostly due to care given to where they are split).  The paintings are grouped into the chapters, Military Scenes, Cowboys And Other Frontiersmen, Indians, and Sculptures (13 pages are dedicated to those).  Captioning seems pretty comprehensive with title, creation-year, medium, size, and current holder. I guess I'm still hoping to come across a similar volume where those long pieces are all held to a single page.
