The Immortals Of Science-Fiction (by David Wingrove) A large 11-inch-by-11-inch book of 109 pages. The narrator is using a trans-dimensional device to pay a visit to ten of science fiction's most memorable characters, namely, Asimov's Susan Calvin, Bradbury's Illustrated Man, Harrison's Jim Digriz, Heinlein's Oscar Gordon, Herbert's Lewis Orne, Howard's Esau Cairn, Niven's Beowulf Shaeffer, Orwell's Winston Smith, Vonnegut's Winston Rumfoord and Wilson's Howard Lester. A number of artists were commissioned to create the 28 double-page spreads that appear here, but unfortunately it apparently wasn't deemed necessary to credit them (not in my edition anyway . . .). The book lays out flat, so all of the double-page spreads have to be judged as successful, as there is little or no distortion from the center-splits, but, as always, I'll voice my opinion that that is not a great manner of display. The works are in several different styles and there is a small bit of nudity on display. Also, through other sources, the artists of seven out of ten chapters can be identified - Richard Clifton-Dey (4), Alan Craddock (3), Les Edwards (3), Howard Levitt (3), Terry Oakes (6), Tony Roberts (3) and UNKNOWN (8).
