The Pulps:  Fifty Years Of American Pop Culture
                                             (1970 - Bonanza Books)

[-BELOW THE LINE-]   (by Tony Goodstone)   First, do note that the various editions of this book are different sizes, from coffee-table book dimensions to nearly digest.  Obviously the bigger one provides a better presentation of the art it has, but in the final calculation, you should not be buying this book for the art.  There is a 48-page color section in this 300 page book, and a handful of pages with large featured drawn illustrations, but that leaves the vast majority to be filled instead with early essay's on the phenomenon of the pulps and examples of what you would find inside them.  Of the art pages there are, 22 have two-or-more images and then you will find 39 that focus on single 'well-presented' works which include those by the following artists:  J.E. Allen, Rudolph Belarski, Frederick Blakeslee (2), Hannes Bok, Howard V. Brown, Samuel Cahan, Harold S. Delay, Virgil Finlay, William Grolz, George Gross, John Held Jr., John Newton Howitt (3), Arnold Kohn, Frank R. Paul (2), Clinton Pettee, H.W. Scott, C.C. Senf, Fred W. Small, J. Allen St. John*, A.R. Tilburne, H.J. Ward, and UNKNOWN (12).

* - Note that St. John's piece is found, better presented, in his own collection up on The List.
