The Art Of John Harris - Beyond The Horizon

     This is the second & more recent collection of Harris art.  So, it's amazing that in our idiosyncratic scoring, this volume is literally neck-and-neck with its sibling, MASS-THE ART OF JOHN HARRIS.  This volume is a bigger book in all dimensions, being 160 pages, with 22 of those exhibiting multi-image gatherings and 130 dedicated to solitary works (52 of those partnering with its neighbor in order to present 26 larger works that spread across the central gutter (never my preferred strategy, but Harris's style keeps any of them from really suffering from it)).  In addition to the introduction and a grateful author's foreward, the chapters you'll find here are:  Floating Mass, Dust To Dust, Return To Earth, Hidden Suns And The City Of Fire, The Abandoned Lands And The Plain Of Crystals, and Beyond The Horizon.  Though there are roughly 25 paintings that are 'well-presented' in both of his books, I'd say both books belong on your shelves, if you are charmed by the massive indistinctness that Harris taps into.
