Pollen's Women (2018 - New Texture)
(edited by Robert Deis & Wyatt Doyle) While the are a handful of extra full-color other paintings included, the thrust of this book is the full-page displays of 82 original paintings that were illustrations inside men's adventure magazines, and then another 42 pages exhibiting how they were each specifically presented on the pages inside their magazines, with the typography, usually introducing the lurid stories they enhanced. Note that, for the most part, the printed interior-illustration requirements did not call for full-color paintings, but rather duotone, additionally making these into fascinating lessons in how the graduations & mixing of two colors could provide a panoply of color-variation that could still bring every image to life. It indeed seems natural here to present this art on matte pages rather than glossy. In addition to a brief introduction, we are also gifted with seven illustrated pages of the artist himself sharing his experiences & thoughts concerning what he calls "a good life".
