The Art Of Jack Davis
                                             (1987 / 2012 Stabur Press / Binary Publications)

[-BELOW THE LINE-]  (by Hank Harrison)   Note that despite the flaws outlined after this, the 2012 re-done edition presents a better job, both in reproduction and in materials.  Davis's work just doesn't get a good display here.  There are the paintings on the front and back, another 23 drawings that get a large-reproduction & a page mostly to themselves, and finally 18 pages that have two or more smaller drawings grouped together - 41 art focused pages out of the 144 here.  The rest of the book is filled with color works presented in greytones.  The text is mostly short elaborations of the genres the artist has worked in and a checklist of his works in those genres.
