Gray Morrow -- Visionary 2001 - Insight Studios Group
This nice gallery monograph has 99 pages to play with, but know that the dustcover provides some additional art not found within. Anyway, inside you'll find 61 pages each taken up with some large piece of art (more than half of that presented as full bleed) and another 23 pages each carrying two or more of the artist's pieces. Even the four pages that are dominated by text get an exhibit or two, as well. Four of the pieces extend across the book's central gutter and three of them do remain 'o.k.' in that presentation. While paintings hold the upper hand, almost a third of the book celebrates Morrow's penciling prowess, indeed, another eight pages carry examples of sequential art, including an entire Buck Rogers story. In addition to the comic work, you find examples of every facet of his artistic career: book & magazine covers. movie posters, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, wartime, jungle-action, with a healthy dollop of nudity thrown in when the formats would allow it.
